Notification Settings Guide
Notification Settings controls desktop notifications for character death, whispers, and unexpected disconnects, as well as the unhandled count in the taskbar.
Terms used in this guide
| Term | Plain-language meaning |
|---|---|
| Desktop notification | A reminder that appears at the bottom-right of Windows. |
| Unhandled count | The number of death, disconnect, or whisper notices not yet viewed or handled. |
| Whisper | A private message sent only to you by another player. |
Notifications are disabled by default and must be enabled manually.
Quick start
Select the notification types you want, enable them, and save.
Field reference
| Option | Trigger |
|---|---|
| Character death notification | Shows a desktop notification when the character dies. |
| Whisper notification | Shows a desktop notification when a whisper is received. |
| Non-manual disconnect notification | Shows a notification when the character disconnects for a non-manual reason. |
The taskbar count summarizes unhandled states, including still-dead characters, still-disconnected characters, and unread whispers. It is not the total number of notifications.
Toolbar unhandled count
The toolbar count represents notices that still need your attention. It is not the total number of notices ever received.
Common questions and checks
No notification appears
Confirm that the required notification switch is enabled, Windows notifications are allowed, and the event happened after the setting was enabled. A manual disconnect does not trigger the non-manual disconnect notification.
The toolbar still shows a count
The count remains until the related notice is viewed or handled. Enabling notifications does not clear existing unhandled notices.
Final checklist
- Required notifications are enabled.
- Settings are saved.
- The taskbar count is understood as an unhandled-state summary.
